Anna Clyne:
"Memories tucked away and tangled in threads of beads in the corner of her glass box. Vocals recorded by engineer Alan Labiner, with vocalists Caleb Burhans and Martha Cluver at Carfax Abbey Studios, Brooklyn."
Anna Clyne (b. 1980):
"My passion is collaborating with innovative and risk-taking musicians, filmmakers, visual artists and, in particular, choreographers ... Inspired by visual images and physical movement, my intention is to create music that complements and interacts with other art forms, and that impacts performers and audiences alike."
Born in London, England and raised in the UK, Clyne played piano and cello as a child and began composing at the age of eleven. She studied composition with Marina Adamia at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; Marjan Mozetich at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario; and Julia Wolfe at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she has lived since 2002. Her work has been performed in venues around New York and throughout the US and UK.
Clyne has received awards from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Meet the Composer, and Jerome Foundation. Her commissions include the Albany Symphony, American Composers Orchestra, Electric Kompany, ETHEL, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Chamber Players, and the Los Angeles-based Hysterica Dance Company, with which she is resident composer. International artists in many disciplines have collaborated with Clyne, including choreographers Kitty McNamee, Leda Meredith, and Pascal Rekoert, and visual artists Joshua Bryan, R. Luke DuBois, Jon Niborg Speier, Rokhshad Nourdeh, and Joshue Ott/superDraw.

For 19 years, the Seattle Chamber Players (SCP) has introduced new and rarely-performed contemporary chamber music to the Pacific Northwest and audiences worldwide. It has commissioned and presented works by a wide range of international composers including Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Aaron Jay Kernis, Valentin Silvestrov, Peteris Vasks, and John Zorn. SCP's ongoing Icebreaker festivals have each focused on new music from a different part of the world: Russia, the Baltic states, the Caucasus, and most recently, the United States. The group has in turn performed at many festivals and venues throughout Eastern Europe, and in 2008 it opened the Beijing Modern Music Festival in China. SCP has been a resident ensemble at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington; Festival of New American Music in Sacramento, California; and Universidad de Costa Rica. It has received the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming as well as grants from the Argosy Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and Siemens Foundation. The Seattle Chamber Players' core instrumentation consists of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello. Recordings are available on the Albany and Periplum labels.
